07/12/08

that was my big day...finally! from jan-dec i had been training 5km,stretching 10km up till a gruelling 15km run in under 90mins without water in the gym...and thats only for weekdays nite training for stamina.... i spent my morning during weekends jogging from melville park to orchard road n take the train back...time spent?

assuming i kick off the run at 0900H normally by 1400H i would be at home already ^^

i ran my 1st ever full marathon...a good 42.195km! enjoyed myself a lot....can go http://www.marathon-photos.com/ to see...

we started off at 0530H and before sunrise, i was tailing behind this Team Fatbird and other S'pore elite runners( i suppose) coz when we were running towards east coast , we could still see the safety cars and singapores mobile squad blazing their sirens and horns trying to pave the way for us ^^
however, east coast was the killer lap as many of the runners begin to drop out and thats when the real race started... by the time i reached the marathon, the sun was already up my legs was burning my mind was like telling me, cmon chris give it up, u've already run half a marathon and its your 1st dun be so hard on yourself ok? but deep in my heart, i know i had to complete it. i trained way way too hard to give it up. more impt, i wanted to prove to those who said i could not make it that i did it with a good timing...

by the time i reached the 27km mark, i could hardly move but because thanks to the GREAT JOB the supporters were doing, we were going :D and eating bananas as well then VICTOR came along and pulled me with him. we kept going and going mantaining our pace and ran up the slopes as if people were strolling...we just kept going giving each other encouragement and kept going till we hit the last 37km...

it was showtime! we whacked the last of our power gels into our body and stretched our legs to shave off our timings, we knew it when we saw the 40km mark finally! i started to stretch my legs even further to cut my posn and time...

and when i hit the 41km, i sprinted all the way and the rest they say its history ^^

-end of story-
folks ^^
